Overview

The village sits in a notch of the Côte de Nuits where the Combe Ambin opens onto east-facing limestone slopes. Thin calcareous soils and well-drained alluvial material favor Pinot Noir with red fruit, violet aromas, freshness, and a characteristically silky frame.

Geography & Climate

Vineyards occupy slopes and an alluvial fan around the Combe Ambin, between Morey-Saint-Denis and Vougeot.

Soils

Hard Jurassic limestone, marl, shallow stony soils, and alluvial gravel create marked differences over short distances.

Wine Styles

The appellation is reserved for red Pinot Noir, typically fragrant, refined, and capable of graceful aging.
