Santa Ynez Valley AVA follows the Santa Ynez River through a broad east-west valley in Santa Barbara County. Pacific air and fog move inland from the west, creating cool conditions near the coast. Marine influence weakens eastward, and inland sectors become substantially warmer and drier.
