Irancy AOC
Irancy AOC is a designated wine appellation located within the Burgundy region of France. Irancy AOC produces red wine from Pinot Noir, sometimes blended with the locally traditional César grape, on the amphitheater-like hills of the Yonne.
Overview
Irancy lies in the Grand Auxerrois, where vineyards curve around Irancy and extend into Vincelottes and Cravant. Its sheltered slopes, northern continental climate, and Kimmeridgian limestone and marl give Pinot Noir freshness, red-fruit character, and a firm mineral frame; César may add color and structure.
History
Winegrowing around Irancy has deep roots, while AOC recognition in 1999 formally protected the village’s distinctive red-wine identity.
