La Grande Rue AOC is a designated wine appellation located within the Burgundy region of France. La Grande Rue Grand Cru is a narrow Vosne-Romanée monopole producing rare, perfumed red Pinot Noir between Romanée-Conti and La Tâche.
Overview
This slender east-facing vineyard runs through the heart of Vosne’s grand-cru slope. Brown limestone soils that deepen downslope yield Pinot Noir combining floral and red-fruit fragrance, spice, silky density, and persistent mineral structure.
History
Long treated within the surrounding vineyard landscape, La Grande Rue gained its own Grand Cru AOC in 1992 and remains a monopole.
Geography
The narrow parcel lies between Romanée-Conti and La Tâche on Vosne-Romanée’s favored east-facing slope.
Climate
A continental climate, mid-slope position, and morning sun support balanced ripening and aromatic precision.
Soils
Brown limestone soil is shallow near the upper edge and deepens into rendzina lower down over hard Premeaux limestone.
