Savigny-lès-Beaune AOC is a designated wine appellation located within the Burgundy region of France. Savigny-lès-Beaune AOC produces generous red Pinot Noir and smaller amounts of fresh white wine in valleys northwest of Beaune.
Overview
The appellation spreads across two main vineyard sectors divided by the Rhoin valley. Contrasting slope aspects and limestone-clay soils yield cherry- and violet-scented Pinot Noir with rounded structure, plus lively Chardonnay-based whites with citrus, floral, and occasional mineral notes.
History
Savigny’s longstanding viticulture was protected by village AOC status in 1937.
Geography
Vineyards occupy slopes on both sides of the Rhoin valley between the Corton hill and Beaune, creating varied orientations and elevations.
Climate
A continental climate is locally shaped by cool valley airflow and differing exposures, preserving freshness in both colors.
