Grape variety
Sangiovese
Sangiovese is Italy's most widely planted red grape variety, the principal grape of Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, and many other wines. It produces medium to full-bodied wines with high acidity, firm tannins, and flavors of cherry, plum, herbs, and earth, with good aging potential.
