Alsace
Alsace is a dry, semi-continental wine region on the eastern foothills of the Vosges Mountains. It is strongly associated with varietally labeled aromatic whites, especially Riesling and Gewurztraminer, alongside Pinot Gris, Crémant d'Alsace, Pinot Noir, and 51 delimited Grand Cru sites.
Notable factThe Vosges rain shadow gives Alsace some of the lowest rainfall among French wine regions, while its appellation system includes 51 individual Grands Crus.
